Each Monday, we’re going to bring you a new mobility exercise to help you move better while on the golf course. Mobility is a crucial aspect of the golf swing. It gives us the ability to move through a larger range of motion, leading to increased power generation potential and unlocking distance throughout the bag. Add these moves to your weekly fitness routine to move better – and feel better – while on the course.
The Exercise
Lumbar Windshield Wipers
Lumbar Windshield wipers target the lumbar spine, working to improve mobility and disassociation of the upper and lower body. When we improve our ability to separate movement between the upper and lower body, we begin to open the door to increased power and distance on each shot.
Here’s how to perform them:
- Lie on the floor with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Feet and knees are close together but not touching.
- Slowly and under control, allow both knees to drop to the left towards the floor. Bring knees back to start position and move in the opposite direction. Reset to start position and repeat.
